[Deptheads] Miniature Feedback Received

I have been thinking about the rumors...like the post Robyn relayed. We need to nip this stuff in the bud. I have been going to these cons since the early '80s. Rumors have always been around. One of the most frustrating things about them as an attendee is they is no where to go for the real information. A lot of things that the staff is privy to should be public information. For example, the parking situation. What we know about the parking situation should be spelled out now, very clearly. When you hit people with things at the last minute they tend to take it poorly.
We should have something on the web site in the form of a blog (What's Going on at Strategicon?). Posted very prominently; with some in-depth insight into our decisions. Sort of our public mouthpiece. The cure for rumors is information; given promptly; prophylactically and on a regular basis (once a week?).
Ironic that we find the Radisson as distasteful as Robyn's poster, yet they assume that the Strategicon staff is happy and complacent.

Agreed, we need to let the community know what we are up too. That we hear them, if they think we are ignoring them they will assume we are "bad management" and go elsewhere.
I don't know about anyone else, but I was totally floored by the numbers we got in May, that is a slowest con and we had a 1000 people. That means we are doing something right, and right now it is crucial that we keep the customers energized and involved.
I hear a lot of people who talk to me call it "You con" it should be our con it should be their con, they should feel if they have a stake in it. I think that is what makes cons successful.

Hopefully we can announce the change in venue at the next con. We should also be upfront about why as well...

Folks,The Venue has gotten the only negative feedback I heard, and each con it grows. People are talking about boycott or starting their own gaming weekends, so I hope we are done at the Radisson after this con, otherwise people will lose faith.-Patrick----- Original Message ----- From: "DB" To: Sent: Wednesday, June 04, 2008 9:26 PMSubject: Re: [Deptheads] Miniature Feedback Received> Damn - that was harsh.>> It makes sense, however, that the con (as a business) is judged by its > venue even if it is unfair.>> -----Original Message-----> From: "Robyn Nixon" >> Date: Wed, 4 Jun 2008 20:55:04> To:> Subject: [Deptheads] Miniature Feedback Received>>> I thought I would share this with the group.
