[Deptheads] D&D 4e News for Game

I absolutely agree.

One of the things I want to see happen is at least some of the RPGA "official" events to be logged through the website as listed events pre-set in the convention schedule. We need it to be as easy as possible for non-RPGA people to try out the games.

I understand — it makes sense to support the “official” organization. But many people don’t want to have to go through the procedure of joining RPGA to play (and find their mustering situation a bit byzantine).

I think that I will try to lead a contingent of non-RPGA DMs into running non-official D&D 4th events for the non-RPGA crowd (which I surmise will flock to the events).

At the moment, the game plan is RPGA Judges who went to the DDXP convention + some new RPGA Judges (via shotgun marriages) will be running the 4e events. There will be two tiers of events.

Escape from Sembia is a full 4 hour adventure run on normal RPGA tables where non-RPGA members will be given a short form to fill out so they can be initiated in the cult. RPGA membership is free.

The Dungeon Delve is a 30 minute demo game that would be set up in a high traffic area for people to jump in, throw dice, move minis and bop off to their next game. They would probably not need any cult initiatiaion so anyone wandering by is fair game.

The third *possible* event will be through RPG - not RPGA. These would be the unofficial 4e events that would be based on using the 4e Unofficial PDFs from ENworld.org

Great work Robert.

So RPGA judges will be running the 4E events...right? Does this mean that non-RPGA people may not play?

I just got off the phone with Mike Rizzo (our RPGA guru) and Katie at Porter Novelli who is doing the PR for WotC's 4e launch. We are GO for doing demos and preview of 4e at Gamex. We will not be able to get any designers as special guests.
