Janice,
I can provide you contact information for Asmodee. Their rep is quite keen
to come, as she wants to come to LA. Her name is Gabriela Meza and she'll
answer e-mail sent to contact at asmodee-us.com. They have some very hot games
right now and we might get them to sponsor some events, including their big
hit, Ghost Stories.
Bucephalus - Anthony Gallela is the guy I recorded a podcast with:
anthony at bucephalus.biz and whom I told about Strategicon. The person I spoke
with at BGG was a local demo guy for the company but Anthony is the one to
speak with. Up and coming, West Coast and they have games that will appeal
to eurogamers and RPG-crossover crowds.
Ape Games - Let me check.
And Playroom isn't worth checking with again knowing Schacht is going to be
here? When was the last time we asked them?
I really hope we don't limit Orccon just because of the lousy parking
situation. I was not at all in favor of that idea. If we don't offer enough
at the con (especially in the way of distributors that can help us make
money and provide more 'show' at a profit rather than a cost), we'll lose a
lot more than folks that don't want to carry their minis from the parking
lot next door. A bit too busy is way better than a bit too empty.
Let's make up for lost people there in board gamers who have a great
new reason to come to the convention with a Spiel Des Jahres-winning special
guest they haven't seen in the US. And the more out-of-the-area advertising
(with publishers mentioning that they come here) we get, the more people
that will fly in and won't care about the parking situation since they won't
have a car. Helpfully, a lot of very attractive airline pricing just came up
and I'm going to get that into the publicity going out to the various board
game media outlets.
