[Deptheads] Orccon Space Layout

I have said several times we need consistency.
Until we make a final move I feel it is best for staff and attendees to not rock the boat. In May we are in sheraton and the last layout for sheraton worked and can be tweaked here and there.

Orccon is our largest attended con. All departments will have large events. I always have 3 national tourneys that have 75+ people each at orccon that come just for those tourneys (3 different countries and 7 different states). Warhammer will fill in miniatures, flames of war will fill, pokemon wants to come but i can't fit in their 900- 1400 expected. The board game events will fill, open gaming will overflow, rpg will come of out of the winter slumber swinging, larps will fill, foam swinging larps will fill. Every department does good at orccon.
We are out of space and the con hasn't even started.
This is the one con where we have our act together, know the layout, and attendees know the layout.

Good idea for space juggling- but better left til after we finish may con at sheraton.
Good to keep thinking about the convention as a whole. We must always do that. We succeed as a team with a common goal.

For Orccon I want to try something different with the ballroom.  I want to try to group Board Games, Miniatures and RPG HQs together.  I will have to look at the layouts we have used in the past and I know we have to put the game library and Karl in there somewhere as well.  Basically what I want to try is to have Board Games populate from the last ballroom towards the foyer and Miniatures populate the room from the foyer in, with open gaming in between the two.
This is all predicated on the lighting at the back of the ballroom being fixed.  The alternative to this is to have RPGs and Miniatures HQs directly opposite Board Games and the game library and populating towards each other.  Obviously this won't be a true split, Board Games will have a majority of the space.  The advantage of this is we can adjust the space to take advantage of empty tables.Mike has asked for a couple of tables by RPG HQ, which we should be able to work out or he can have some space in the foyer if he would rather do that.

The Foyer will be used for large games (eg GQ, M&M, etc) high quality, high visibility demos & games (as well as the flea market and paint & take, etc).

Note that FoW Tourney and the GW GT's will be in the penthouse and circle drive rooms.  I also think we have RPGs and LARPs pretty well placed.  Computer/Video games will be in San Jose.

I would like to hear any constructive comments and suggestions.

Tim
