Hmmm, I guess people do not really read the post here or think about what is being said.... There is NOTHING in the change that would affect the planning or entry of miniatures, those times remain the same, as they have been for years. the only change is in the time YOU JUDGE IT! If you close entries at noon on Sunday per your own printed rules why would you WAIT until four to judge them thus denying convention goers the chance to see who won? Why would you force people who might have entered not to enter because they have to wait for judging to get there minis back at 5 or 6 pm?
I planned out the layout for the foyer and it has plenty of space for the case does not change anything only enhances the look and feel of the area. People come to that area to see miniatures, that's where they belong. People in the Paint and Take can then look to get inspiration.
Please don't take offense if I get passionate on my position, that's just me.....

I know of a few people that enter figures in the contest and show up the day of the event.
They plan and prepare based on what we had on the website months and weeks ago.
Changing it 4 days before the convention would not be good or fair.
Changing it next year as suggested---awesome.
As far as the galss case with people's minis....The foyer area is over full already. Paint and take, hmgs, laughing moon, demos, flea market, ex illis, and other events. Evening you have large scale events and laughing moon and at night you have werewolf events.
I would keep the glass case with contest miniatures in the dealer's room. The dealer's room locks, is secure, needs more destination things, and for our last radisson convention it is the spot where the minis have always been.

I don't see where this would be a problem. Does anyone else have an opinion pro or con?

These might be great suggestions for Orccon, but given less than a week
before the event, it would be a bad time to change the sign in and judging
time line.
People who submit entries need lead time before the event.

I was going to bring a display case LARGE 3'x2'x4' with glass shelves,
lighted and Lockable for the painting contest. We had discussed putting this
in the Miniatures area (next to the managers table and close to the paint
and take area) as this would be a lot more visible and relevant to
miniaturist. Do you (we) still want to do this? I think it would be quite
nice and bring the painting contest out of the shadows were it seems to be.
I would also change the timing of the event. It seems sort of silly to have
a painting contest that is judged at 4pm on Sunday when many people have
already left, after all the big day is Saturday. Many people like to see who
has won and if judging is not done until 4pm finished around 5pm and people
are standing the to pick up figures no one sees them. You also limit the
entries as those who only have a day or so cant enter.
I would have entries accepted from opening of con on Friday to 10am (or noon
at the latest) on Sunday, this gives 99% percent of people plenty of time to
enter their figures. Judging should take place from 10am to 11am, Awards
given or placed in case with figures then. Viewing of winners from 11am to
2pm and after 2pm you may pick up you figures.
We will have some additional prizes for the painting contest.
Just my 2 cents,

Has all the changes I got (which are only a couple).
This is the first one that could go to press.
