Neil,
I think your solution works. I am thinking we should add a third session on
Friday and give people the opportunity to qualify with their four games any
of the three days. Thus, a player could play once Friday, twice Saturday and
once Sunday so they don't feel like they are doing nothing but Settlers all
con (maybe some like that but most modern eurogamers like to switch it up).
I'm inclined to think that six hours of preliminary play will mean a lot
fewer people will play in this event. I can reach out to Mayfair if you'd
like me to ask about it. Days was pretty willing to bend rules but then,
their event was being established and the Settlers thing has been going for
a while. Even if they agreed to let us call games after an hour (90 min
Settlers games means people are playing SLOWLY) so as to cut the commitment
down to four hours instead of six. Let me know.
