[Deptheads] Fwd: To be a guest at a show

I was only talking about it because someone else posted. That's to bad as he would be a great draw for the miniature side. Smackdown is gearing up with lots of stuff for miniature oriented people so it might be just the thing to draw some of those people to you/us for that con. Henry has a lot of pull with manufactures and anytime you might grab someone like that it would be a wise move. You guys have been trying to build the miniatures presence at the con and with our help it is working. We need to do more to spice it up and a name from a currently played game that is willing to put on games to me is a no brainier. Saying you don't need people for Gateway on one hand and worrying about the competition on the other is a bit strange. If the other side gets wind of this guys travel plans you can bet he will be at their con.

Regards,

Bill W.

Let's make sure everyone is clear: we don't need people for Gateway in September. Kevin Wilson of Fantasy Flight Games fame is our Guest of Honor and John Wick is coming as a Special Guest (Aldrich - right? Not a GOH?) There was also talk of someone from Columbia Games coming.

We could use someone for Gamex to supplement Jeff Siadek (local board/card game designer from Gorilla Games).

Orccon 2012 - awaiting final confirmation from Martin Wallace (sent a follow-up yesterday) - that's a big one.

Gamex 2012 - Richard Borg (who committed and then had to withdraw for this year's Gamex)

Gateway 2012 - Still tentatively Friedemann Friese - but possibly Uwe Rosenberg (depends on which one says 100% yes first)

Orccon 2013 - The other guy from the Gateway 2012 list above

Remember that we still want secondary guests to come. I have some US designers we could still invite that would be cheaper to host than our Int'l guest.

This might be a good thing I could shop it around the HMGS guys. We did play Fire and Fury Friday at the Bengal Club in Santa Clarita. Terrain might be provided as well as troops depending on what was needed. I do find it interesting that Brian would find this guy to come when I have been after him for years to bring his own Killer Katanas to the con with no luck.

      Hello all -

A gaming acquaintance of mine contacted the designer of the popular "Fire and Fury" miniature rules books (American Civil War). He knew, in general terms, that we are/were looking for guests for Gateway, and that mini and especially historical themed mini guests would likely be valued.

I think my friend Brian might have been a bit enthusiastic about suggesting flight and accomodations, especially since I had shown interest when it was mentioned that Rich might come out here on his own to visit family... Ugh.

BUT, take a look and see what you think. Fire and Fury is popular, and just had a new hardcover rule book printed.

Perhaps I should call you Saint Bradford. There's uniformity to you kindness. How's that usage, or maybe not much better :-)

Sure, I 'll run games twice a day for as many days as the convention lasts. I can ship my terrain to my son in Carona. Not sure how to get troops there though. Perhaps we can use local figures?

I leave for vacation on saturday for a week. Taking a cruise so I'll be out of contact by email. They charge too much for internet. Let's talk when i get back.

        Hello Rich,
It has been a while since we talked. I hope all is well with you.
A friend of mine owns a gaming convention out here in Los Angeles. The convention is known as Gateway or Orccon, and is held three times a year. This coming September, the owners would like to really expand the historical gaming and are looking for names in the industry. I passed along your name and they were greatly excited.
They propose to have you as a guest Gamemaster for the September 2011 show. It would be held labor day weekend at LAX international Airport in Los Angeles. They would fly you out and provide a room for you if you would agree to run some games. I can help you out and provide the material for the games, you can just be there to referee.
I have been instructed to pass along this invitation to you and to see what you think. It might give you some time to see your son as well. If you are for it, then I will pass along your information to them so that they can contact you directly and set up the details.
I have been really busy at work, so have not had a chance to do much writing. I was upset to see that I misused the word "uniformity" on my Killer Katanas Imjin War book. I feel so stupid! My gaming group has been playing the RF&F scenario, Olustee, for the past two weeks.
Take care, and let me know when you can.
        Brian
