Also I noticed the category stating 1/35 scale vehicles....shouldn't that be 1/35 or smaller (1/48, 1/72, 1/100 etc.) to allow other game system entries?

I appreciate the suggestions people, keep them coming please.

I believe that I am already in communications with them, I brought this forward to the group to get further feedback, rather than me being the sole voice of Strategicon.

I already indicated that we want to have multiple Strategicon reps on the judging committee since we are the actual hosts.

I will continue to coordinate this effort, I wasn’t looking to replace myself <grin>.

Since this is our convention we tell them that we are Excited and look forward to them to putting on the event BUT there are certain elements must remain (we want to retain the categories we currently have, expand the kids categories, and carol and myself stay on as judges along with their judges (plus we can add shawn to bring the strategicon judges to 3 along with their judges. Shawn is better than mid-level (don't listen to him) and like myself he has judged golden demon and other
miniature painting contests.

I judge several art shows during the year and I got some of the cons to use fan favorite category. I put a voting slips near the art work or if it is a miniature painting contest I put the slips near the case with a box with slit cut in top
so you can fold and drop your vote into the box. Attendees write down their badge number and their favorite art piece, fold it and drop it in box. The piece that gets the most votes is fan favorite winner. More attendees now go to see
the miniatures since they can vote on a fan favorite winner (and entrants will get people to go vote so those people go there...traffic is increased).

Also...after last convention I created some certificates to print up and give to the kids for the painting contest. Orccon 2011 painting contest with art work and we put their name in the name space in calligraphy and hand them
to them as they pick up their miniatures (and the winners get ribbons too). This way every kid entering the miniature painting contest will at least get a cool looking certificate as they pick up their miniatures at contest end.

It makes since for them as that is the scale they play and paint. I am sure an explanation of the diversity we host will change that set up.

However the split panel is a must, I know I think Flames of war miniatures look the best because I love WW2. So its shouldn't be presented as an effort to stop intentional favoritism but to stop unintentional favoritism.

They will spend time advertising this contest which will help. As victor said, I am at best a Mid level painter and when I enter I win 5 to 7 ribbons and even an over all. I hope that this will end those days (however I will miss the dealer dollars)

Anyhow, what is the way forward on this issue. Do we just send a e-mail with a list of concerns, if you are to busy I would be happy to talk to him via phone or E mail and express the concerns of the group.

Also most of my work (Ad Sales) happens before the convention, I would be happy to judge the competition, I have been a golden Demon judge 4 or 5 times now, but also appreciate non 28-32mm figures.

And what is with the 28mm wankfest? Any particular reason we shoehorn in everything else into one catchall category?

Having CMON would be great, but the categories as listed are so limiting. If we are going to get the 50 to 100 more attendees just for this, shouldn't there be a bit more choice and options?
