[Deptheads] Demographics Sheets

I agree with what Tim is saying.
Demographics are not just what games people are playing but what events they are doing at our convention.
Attendance for all events including---LARPS, RPGs, RPGA, Miniature gaming, collectable card and miniature gaming, wargame bootcamp, video gaming, movies, boardgames, boardgames library checkouts for open gaming, seminars/panels, auction, paint and take, painting contest, late night werewolf, magic the gathering draft pods, con guided tour, vip and other events, costume contest, running a flea market booth, playtesting ,game demos, kids gaming, playing pick up games in a deptartment, etc...if they are at the con and aren't in their room, or eating, break between games, sleeping or shopping then they are doing an event at our convention. Demographics show what activity people are choosing to do at the con each hour and tabs what events each specific person is doing during the entire con.

The questionaire----
Also for a questionaire ask people when they shop, what they look for (like deals, stuff they can't find in local stores, just browsing, killing time, flea market stuff, etc), and if they don't shop ask them why (pice, variety, etc)
How many days do they attend....and why?
Also have questionaires note if the person was a volunteer or not.
People generally hate filling out paper work..especially surveys and questionaires (even cals or online)....so most cons give something to people for taking the time to fill out a questionaire. That will be the differene most time in a someone saying "why bother" and them saying 'hey, I get this and all I have to do is fill out this questionaire". We need to mix in feedback from the hard core regular attendees that are at every con of ours with and the casual attendee that most times will not fill out questionaires or share an opinion.

And we don't care for the other departments?

Hi Everyone,

I've reviewed the discussion about this topic from just after Gateway. There was a lot of discussion of pros and cons, but not much in the form of actual questions.

I've tweaked some of the sheets to produce a more uniform look and hopefully help make the process easier for you, payouts and whomever ends up doing the annual awards. I only have real sheets from Monday of the con for RPGs, and a blank and the file merge template for boardgames, so bare with me on this.

The boardgame post-game sheet is basically what I'd expect the collectibles and video games sheets would look like, unless I'm given more information.
The RPG sheet is basically what I'd expect the LARP sheets to look like and possibly Miniatures, which brings me to an important question. For RPGs and Miniatures, it seems most events have no winners, but the few that do, need to be handled. How are we handling these events currently? And, this Orccon, we have a LARP
tournament, how is that being handled? [I'm referring to our paperwork, not outside sponsorship.]

The one exception to the format would be a longer sign-up list for the LARPs. Would LARPs have alts? Would LARPs need the list to continue on the back?

So, what this comes down to...
Do you like the new formats?
Do you have any suggestions for questions to put on these sheets? Please be specific as to whether it's for all depts or which. Yes, no, or numeric answers are best, but I want to hear what inquiring minds would like to know?

I'm working on the sign-up sheets next. Do miniatures sign-up sheets have/need the description on them like RPGs?

Also, how does each dept generate the sign-up sheets? I appear to have the data for boardgames. Not sure about the rest of you. Just because you've mentioned it to me, doesn't mean I remember. I'm trying to make this a smooth modification.

There is also the possibility of a questionaire, and/or suggestions form
to be available at each dept and registration. These are obviously voluntary, but we really should offer specific ways for people to comment on things. The Feedback Forum only works for those who are willing and able to attend. Again, what questions?
