[Deptheads] Miniatures [WAS Banner Art]

I know that if you tried to describe my miniature collection and armies as
'collectibles' I would be very upset. That is like trying to describe
performance vehicles such as Ferraris and Lamborghinis as public
transportation.

The hobby aspect of assembly, painting, mounting, and total personalization
is totally absent from the collectible miniature games. When you get down
to the final aspect, the game, then yes there are similarities between the
two areas. Just as there are similarities between the miniature area and
the Wargame bootcamp games.

In a conventional miniature war game, players purchase the
miniatures/figures they want and invest time in assembling, painting, basing
and customizing the figures as they desire.

Collectible miniature games were designed to appeal to those who would enjoy
the game aspect but not necessarily the hobby aspect of miniature gaming.
For the most part they are distributed as sealed packs which contain a
subset of the available miniatures.

'Miniatures" at Strategicon are the conventional kind described above. Most
of these games are currently on the 1st floor and that is where the HQ is.
The Warhammer Fantasy Battle and 40k tournaments can get very large (just
under 100 players) so had to be moved to the larger ballrooms on the third
floor.

Apparently, there are minis in collectibles! This is why I'm asking....
Minis are in the lobby; Warhammer/Warhammer 40K are on the 3rd floor;
now....we have minis in collectibles? It's a bit confusing and trying to
explain it to guests who've never been here is going to get
interesting....so, I suppose I'm asking why "Collectibles" doesn't work?
It's all-encompassing....

Three areas for minis? This is news to me. I know we put the larger
tournaments up on the third floor because of space, but where else? What
more have you not been telling me!?

Just as a side note from a marketing and tour perspective.... it's *very
difficult* to explain why there are (now) three areas for minis. Why and
when was it changed?

Collectables does not work....that is why it was switched to collectable
cards and mins.

Could just use "Collectable Card Games". The event descriptions for the
other collectable games will list "collectable card games" room as location.

2x5 ft.

I was planning on using "Collectibles", and "Video Games" The font size can
be reduced for the longer names. Once a design is finalized, I plan on
creating a complete set of images. We can then discuss any issues with
specific titles.

Here is the full list of possible banners;
Collectibles
Video Games
Boardgames
RPG & LARP
Miniatures
Dealer Room
Information
Registration
Dealer Dollars
Game Library
Paint & Take
RPGA
Pathfinder

If you plan to keep things standard across the con, I suggest using our
longest dept name for sampling.

Collectible Cards and Minis

Video and Computer Games
