Hi Josh,
#1 - That is a tough nut to crack. There is an event description file that is linked on the website. I asked Tanya to add links to it on the Run Event page and the Volunteer page. Hopefully this leads to more people seeing and reading the files.
#2 - Lots of people want that, but it is logistically impossible. Miniatures needs to be in the ballroom (loading dock issues), the dealer room needs to be across the hall (more loading dock issues). Boardgames and Open Gaming will not be together in this location. And there is an added bonus that this allows the convention to promote the idea that Open Gaming is not just for boardgames, but for all games.
#3 - This has to do with the brilliant hotel design. The air for downstairs and upstairs apparently are linked, so the more they turn up the air downstairs, the colder it gets upstairs. If they don't turn it up enough, downstairs becomes unbearable, so they keep it pretty high anf boardgames and miniatures gets pretty cold. Snarky answer: Bring a sweater. =)
#4 - We have discussed this in the past and I am talking to the department heads to see if a system can be implemented. It is a good idea that many people have suggested in the past, but until we had an Open Gaming Supervisor did not seem feasible. Now, it might happen =)

Hi folks,
Josh offered some suggestions, and I am discussing #1-3 with him directly, but #4 was something I thought was discussed once or twice. Now that there is an Open Gaming HQ and monitor, is this something we could implement?

Hi Shane, I was talking to some people last night and there were a few suggestions they had with regards to the convention. So here is what they asked me to pass on.
4) Open gaming isn't always as friendly in finding a game. Sometimes you need to socialize, which is not easy for some gamers. :) But it might be good if open gaming had something that someone could put on their table saying that they are looking for players. Or looking for players for a particular game. Then if someone wanders around in open gaming, they could see it and head over there and it could make it easier.. Maybe something that is a bit high and has a number or a card or whatever. Sometimes people in open gaming are looking for players, but they might be doing a filler or something while waiting for people to come. So it looks like they are busy, but they are really just killing time.

Good morning! It has been an entire week since Orccon finished and so I have obviously been slacking off =) The website is accepting event submissions for Gamex right now. I will have a list of the BIG tournament games soon (hopefully tonight). Remember, the schedule fills up really fast, especially given that Gamex is only 12 weeks away. Don't wait until the last minute or there may not be room for your game. Shane SaubyBoardgames Supervisor
