Hi All,
I’ve been working on filling in the missing data for the winners list and have noticed a few things.
I’m seeing a lot of 101s and Demos listing as Events. And no reference to the event type on the sheet. This creates problems for Payouts and myself. They are trying to separate events with winners from events without, mostly for my benefit. Events have winners, Demos, 101s and Play Tests we don’t expect any (Co-ops and Play Tests being the only loopholes I know of for this con, and the latter should be handled for Gateway). If Payouts doesn’t know it’s a non-winner event, I have to figure it out later (which I will get to in a later email).
Given that the new event format on the events page will be
Game System Game Name Event Type
it would be a good idea to list the Event Type after the Game Name on the same line on the paperwork. When this is done, any events that have 101 or Demo in the title should have those words removed, because "Fun Game 101 101" and "Crazy Game Demo Demo" looks silly.
I would like to see this request implemented this con if possible for Collectibles, LARPs and Party Games, since these departments use the same form for all events. Let me know if you need help making the change.
Miniatures and RPGs (since you don’t seem to have winners outside of tournaments), and Board Games, Video Games, and War Games (since the event type is listed somewhere), don’t absolutely need to make the integration changes for Gamex. However, the change will be needed when the new format is live or next year, whichever comes first. :)
Kudos to LARPs for getting the GMs to manually add the number of players and time. LARPs can get away with this for now only because the number of events and hence GMs is so small. Please add the items to the form by next year.
Still need to get number of players and actual time taken by Miniature, Party Game, and RPG events. Miniature and Party Games are also using a radically different format which is not helping in the long run. I’m perfectly willing to help keep some of the uniqueness, while making it easer for everyone.
Again, I’m willing to help with this process, but you have to ask.
Tanya
