[Deptheads] Recruitment

Strategicon Department Heads deptheads at strategicon.net

I’ve added the volunteer button to the bottom of the page.

I’ve also done a little rewording and reorganized the Volunteer page to help people recognize the difference between volunteering as a GM and general volunteering.

Hope this helps everyone.

Tanya is going to put a "Volunteer Here" button next to the "Register Here" button...which actually helps me, but not so much you. However, she also plans on separating out the GM and Volunteer information into 2 pages instead of the 1 page...less info to wade through might be helpful. Obviously, any volunteer inquiries I receive which are requests for GM information, I will forward to you (or the appropriate dept supervisor).

> Including this GM and Volunteers wanted information in marketing would help. Getting the word out to the FLGS would be helpful, such as flyers. I managed to recruit 1 volunteer from a game store by talking about Strategicon when I was demoing there. He hadn't heard of the con before. So I think flyers would be helpful. (In fact, I'd love some for RageCon end of June, and will make my own if I have to!)

I do not know how other departments are doing, but I have seen a steady decline in the number of GMs over the past couple of years. My staff pointed out to me that we need some "new blood." So, we brainstormed a bunch of ideas on how to increase awareness. There were two ideas that everyone thought would be easy to implement and be effective.

We have discovered that there is a decent amount of interest that is not getting tapped due to lack of knowledge. So we would like people coming to the convention website, especially for the first time, to see that there are volunteer opportunities. We thought the Home Page, which people go to first, and the Registration Page, where experienced convention attendees may link to directly, would be good places to let people know they can earn a free badge by running stuff for us.
