[Deptheads] Menu Reorg
Strategicon Department Heads

If you'll forgive and indulge me, I would like to reframe this a bit. I
don't think it's likely or even desirable that every department submits a
layout/text/pictures for their department page. Department heads are
volunteers and they are not webmasters; this is neither their area of
specialization nor responsibility, and asking them all to do their own page
will be both ineffective and result in wildly varying quality and tone
across the website. The website is an avatar for the convention's brand,
and its pages should therefore be carefully considered in terms of visual
literacy and professional tone.
As such, I think it would be best if a person were designated to work with
the department heads to write some content for these pages and find
appropriate pictures. I can do this and work with Rob on the coding end to
make sure it gets done, if you would like, as I am not willing to submit
this idea without volunteering to do it myself. I can reach out to
department heads and add content they want added to their pages, such as
instructional videos, demos, and links. If anyone desperately does want to
write the material for their own page and select pictures, they can of
course do so; I can just take a look at it and edit for tone and stuff if
necessary. That will keep the quality constant and hopefully frictionless
across the site.
Best,
Tara
