Four weekends from today, you could be playing any game your heart desires with your friends at Gateway! Strategicon’s last gaming convention of the year will be held at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel this Labor Day weekend, September 4-7, 2015.

Our initial room block at the Hilton sold out early, but we have opened a second block at $124 per night for single or double occupancy (two double beds or one king bed), $144 for triple occupancy and $164 for quad occupancy. Interested in running a game or event at the con? The deadline for submissions is August 14; event pre-registration opens August 15.

Special Guests: Jack Greene, Jeff Siadek, Rick Loomis and Doug Malewicki

A wargamer since the 1960s, Quarterdeck Games designer Jack Greene has worked for SDC (best known for Conflict magazine) and Avalon Hill. He has a dozen published games and will be showcasing his latest, Bear Flag Republic, as well as a boxed, bilingual version of Ironbottom Sound III at Gateway.

Gamesmiths and Gorilla Games founder Jeff Siadek has been a fixture of the L.A. convention scene since 1979. At Gateway he will run Huge Battlestations and give previews of his new projects Palaces, Draftcraft and Daredevils, as well as the Best Expansion Ever, which expands The Worst Game Ever. The end result may or may not be the best or worst game ever.

Game designer Rick Loomis brought play-by-mail (PBM) games into the electronic age, starting with a Raytheon 704 minicomputer in 1972. He also founded Flying Buffalo, best known for publishing Tunnels and Trolls, as well as the popular Nuclear War card game, designed in 1965 by aerospace engineer and inventor Doug Malewicki. Nuclear War celebrates its 50th anniversary this year with a special edition, and Malewicki himself will run a tournament at Gateway on Sunday, September 6.

Hail, Brave Adventurers!

Wizards of the Coast recently announced a new Dungeons & Dragons Adventurers League storyline, Rage of Demons. Two new Adventures will premiere at Gateway: Bane of the Tradeways (levels 1-4) and Herald of the Moon (levels 5-10). New and experienced players are encouraged to rally and register for Adventurers League games in advance via Warhorn.
