[Strategicon-announce] Submissions Deadline is Tonight

Hail! The game and event submissions deadline for Orccon 2018 <http://strategicon.net/> is tonight. Pre-registration for individual games and events will open tomorrow (Saturday) at noon. The convention will take place over Presidents’ Day weekend, February 16-19, 2018 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport hotel.

Get a Room

Only a few Saturday, Sunday and Monday night hotel rooms are still available at the convention rate; Thursday and Friday are sold out. We expect the hotel itself to sell out that weekend, along with neighboring hotels, so if you haven’t booked your room yet, it’s now or never. Parking rates at the Hilton: $9 general (validation is available at Registration) and $20 for valet per day for convention attendees. Expect mayhem. Consider a carpool.

Settle Down

Brace yourself for the Settlers of Catan 2018 National Qualifier! The top 8 players from each qualifying heat on Friday and Saturday will compete in the Finals on Sunday. The final winner will be sent to the Catan United States Championship (CUSC) at the Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio. There is a $10 fee for each event.

Board games will also host a four-part World Cup Game series and continue the Power Grid World Tour.

Play With Creator

Learn to play your new favorite game from the best possible person: its creator! Try GROWL, an exciting new spin on traditional werewolf games, journey to New Salem with its new Constable expansion, hunt treasure around the Sea of Nadia, customize a ship and become a Galactic Explorer, or stay closer to home and its history with Presidential Knife Fight. Alternately, stay too close to home with Indie Dev, in which you’ll play an independent video game developer trying to make ends meet.

Strategicon Staff Secret Sith?

Sure to entertain: Strategicon Staff members will attempt Secret Sith, a Star Wars reskin of the popular social deduction game Secret Hitler! Who's loyal to the Republic? Who's a Separatist? And, most importantly… who's the Sith?

Be not frightened by the flashy new hotness! Orccon 2018 will feature the same great shopping bazaar, historical wargaming, flea market, miniature painting, large-scale Party Games, seminars, movie room, live entertainment, tournaments, Great Game Auction, Library and everything that’s made Orccon the place to be for Presidents’ Day weekends for more than 40 years!
