There is nothing wrong with lightening the mood; however, this particular joke wasn't funny the first time and just got worse from there. Also, if there had been legit answers first, it may not have come off poorly.
Perhaps I should speak up more if I feel things are a bit out of line, as a female. Please don't take requests to stop or tone it down as disparaging or a death sentence on humor. It's simply saying that someone is feeling disrespected, insulted, offend, or threatened and requesting a general tone change.
