[Deptheads] Departments that aren't Game Types

Tanya,

All due respect, I just don’t see how ING is not a type. Prototypes/Playtests as far as I’m concerned are a type of game. They are all games that are not ready and not in stores.

I’m not seeing the correlation between PFS/AL and ING. From what I understand of PFS they are a group, but are like a subset and share a type with RPGs. I don’t feel that is how my department is at all.

While you’re saying that ING is a host only, the real discussion here is if a prototype is a type of game or not. I would have to say it is. I had already made sure to cross list all my games prior to asking if my department could be added to the search and add ING to the host department. The only change I would have had to make was essentially giving my events to all the other departments. I think, too, that would be confusing to attendees who come specifically for prototypes. Or people who find my games listed under board games and go to the board games department and do not see the game they’re looking for.

In other cons, prototypes are celebrated and are recognized as a separate type.

In any case, could we please come back to this discussion after virtual con? It’s in less than a week and I’m still working on the discord, the charity raffle, and helping my GMs.

For example, RPG game type will have the host options of RPGs, Pathfinder, Adventurers’ League, Family Area. Miniatures will have Miniatures and Family Area. Only admins (department heads, etc) will have access to all hosts for the purpose of moving events to a different host department.

Your GMs have to list Indie as the primary, because they don’t have access to the host field. What you need to do is list Indie as host then switch Indie to secondary. It can be done in one edit, but setting the host lets you move to secondary and still retain edit access.

Because they were in contact with me I understood what they needed and what changes needed to be made to their events (also being able to keep track and input it on my own schedules if changes do happen).
