Friendly reminder: if you (or someone you love, or like, or dislike) would like to run a game or event at Gamex 2017, May 26-29 at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport hotel, the deadline to submit events is Friday, May 5. Yes, that’s tomorrow. Pre-registration for individual events will open around noon on Saturday.

Hotel Status

This is complicated, so bear with us: very few rooms remain in the current hotel block. Second-block hotel rate for Gamex: $144 per night for single or double occupancy for two double beds. $164 for triple occupancy and $184 for quad occupancy. Book here <http://strategicon.net/index.php?goto=venue>. Saturday is sold out. If you need Thursday, grab it now-- there will be no Thursday rooms in the third block.

The Hilton requires a first night’s deposit, refundable up to 24 hours in advance of the convention. Parking rates at the Hilton: $9 general and $20 for valet per day for convention attendees.

Face the Trials and Rise Among the Worthy!

On Saturday at 8 p.m., Collectibles will host a Magic: the Gathering Amonkhet pre-release kit Sealed Tournament with an entry fee of $25. This pre-release set is selling out nationwide, but we’ll have sets for 20 entrants-- first come, first served.

Adventure Awaits… If You Dare

The Dungeons & Dragons Adventurers League is proud to present TWO Season Six Epics: DDEP06-01 Relics of Khundrukar and DDEP06-02 Return to White Plume. Sunday will feature the D&D Open, a two-round tournament style adventure. Gamex will also see the continuation of the Ylraphon story arc from Orccon, with three new adventures written specifically for Strategicon! What’s New and Exciting?

In addition to their magnificent Painting Contest, Miniatures will offer classes in painting techniques and terrain building. Meanwhile, our vast, wide Game Library continues to expand at an alarming rate; recent acquisitions include Scythe, Great Western Trail, Terraforming Mars, Potion Explosion, Spyfall 2, Adrenaline and more!

Have you tried the Nintendo Switch yet? Stop by Video Games (Marina room, second floor)! We’ll have Mario Kart 8, Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Bomberman R and 1-2-Switch. Come for the Switch and stay for the tournaments!
